Aromatherapy has been used the bedrooms of the rich and famous, the kings and queens, since time begun! If you’d like to feel like the royalty this Valentine’s Day ( or any day of the year), why don’t give a try a blend of beautiful essential oils with aphrodisiac properties.
For deep relaxation, release of muscle tension, stimulation of circulation and hormones controlling the reproductive system, mix a carrier oil (coconut, almond or olive oil) with few drops of Rose, Ylang Ylang and Geranium or Lavender Spike pure essential oils. You can use up to 4 drops combined of essential oils per 5ml of carrier oil. For a whole body, you’ll need about 7ml of carrier oil. Mix the blend gently but well and apply generously to your body (or your partner’s) by massaging it in.
If you feel up to it, you can give each other 10-15mins massage to release the muscular
tension in the neck and shoulders to take you to another level of relaxation and love.
The aphrodisiac properties of the Ylang Ylang and Rose oils will in turn help to put you in the mood for love. Enjoy!
I’ve been practising Aromatherapy for a while now and through conversations with my friends and clients, I have come to realise that to most people it is not entirely clear what Aromatherapy is actually about.
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils for the treatment or prevention of disease, when good quality essential oils are correctly used during a massage, the soothing combination of beautiful aromas, massage, aromatic baths and other treatments all work to regulate, balance, heal and maintain the entire being by working with nature, and not against it.
Essential oils’ have varied properties and once appropriate ones have been carefully selected for you, I blend them with carrier oils and used during the massage. These oils are absorbed in to your body via the skin, and enter your lungs through your relaxing breathe, causing the oils properties to enter the bloodstream and are carried around the body where they can deliver their beneficial healing powers. While this is happening your sense of smell is enhanced bringing an additional element of luxury and relaxation to your massage.
For aromatherapy to be effective it is important that you have a full and in-depth consultation to ensure the appropriate aromas and oils have been selected to suit your individual needs. Up to three essential oils can be used in during one treatment. This means that in one session we can prepare a blend that, for example, will help to ease the aches and pains as well as the tensions from your shoulders, while boosting your immune system and at the same time ease your heartburn. Whatever issues s, there is an essential oil that can be used to help in some way
Aromatherapy cannot be used as a cure by itself, but it can assist in easing your symptoms alongside your regular treatments, recommended by your GP – I find that the use of essential oils are really beneficial when dealing with a variety of issues including, but not limited to digestive problems, sleeping problems, skin problems, PMS, headaches, muscular tensions, stress, anxiety. Aromatherapy is most effective if used regularly and as a part of a course of treatments.

It’s party season and the biggest of them is still ahead of us. What’s not to like about finishing this year with a bang. Unfortunately, what usually follows is a banging headache! Well, not anymore. Aromatherapy is here to help!
Depending on your size mix 10-20ml of carrier oil (olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil etc as long as it is pure) with 10-20 drops of three essential oils. 10 drops per 10ml. The essential oils can be in any combination but do not exceed the 10 drops per 10ml.
The New Year Hangover Detox
3 drops of juniperberry essential oil
3 drops of cypress essential oil
4 drops of lemon essential oil
Mix all of the above with10 ml of a carrier oil of choice and apply to the whole of your body except your face and sensitive areas. Make sure you leave at least 2 hours before washing to get the full effect and drink plenty of water to assist the detox and avoid a headache. Milk thistle tea might be a good idea too. If this doesn’t help, why not come for a massage to get a clear headed and refocused start to the year.
Warning! Do not use Juniperberry oil if you have any kidney related conditions and/or take medication for kidney conditions. If you are prone to allergic reactions or have very sensitive skin, halve the dose and perform a skin test first. Any question please contact me at Kristina@palm-therapies.co.uk
It’s the season for comfy jumpers, hot chocolate and chapped lips I’m afraid. The nippy wind does nothing for our luscious lips- it leaves them dry and in desperate need of some TLC. There really is nothing worse than applying lip-gloss/ lipstick to peeling lips and the one thing flaky lips need in winter is a good scrub.
Lush’s Mint Julip is a mint-choc chip flavoured is a lip scrub which promises to leave the lips smooth and primed for lipstick. The scrub is made from castor sugar with invigorating and warming Peppermint oil in it and Jojoba oil to moisturise.
Lush is a shop I could spend many hours in, it’s a natural beauty skin care shop with the most amazing bath bombs! It’s so great that I even once had my hair styled by the shop assistant- I walked in with straight hair and walked out with beach waves! However, on this occasion I only walked out with this little pot.
When I opened the pot, the sweet vanilla and minty smell hit me- it smelt so good that I wanted to have a spoon or two. I scooped out a small amount and gave my lips good scrub for about a minute. When I finished my lips were flaky free and all pink- the scrubbing had circulated the blood to the surface. My lips were soft, flake free and ready to pout!
I liked the consistency of the scrub- the real sugar crystals were just right, not too soft and not to rough that my lips felt chapped! The smell is delicious and the tingling peppermint experience doesn’t disappear with use. Lush’s Mint Julip costs £5 and this small pot lasts me a good two months! So if you want to buff away your flaky lips I’d most definitely recommend you go get yourself a pot.
What combination in the world screams more luxury that champagne, massages and Godiva chocolate in combination with a very sexy view over the river at Club Lounge Level39!
When Palm Therapies were asked to participate in the event; “An Evening of Indulgence” we accepted without a hesitation. Once the guests arrived they were offered a glass of champagne and everyone started mingling immediately, which is quite understandable after a long day at work. As the icing on the cake, Palm Therapies’ own Ana was also available to give a 10 min “taster” massage to the guests. Unfortunately though, not everyone made their turn as the list was long!! A lot of yummy chocolate were on offer, fantastic prizes were won, amongst them a fabulous massage.
Do you also want a piece of this luxurious night and experience? Call us and book our fantastic therapists for your event or why not give away one of our treatments for Christmas?
